You're right. I did the same thing, the sound is a bit better, but it does sound
kinda like a broken tin can.
Better solution is to take a long drill (30 or more cm), insert it in the back outlet
and punch a hole in the first baffle plate of the muffler where it connects to the
head pipe. Someone of the german paticipants at the Savage meeting in Belgium told me
about this. I've heard it and it sounds much deeper and throatier than just drilling
holes in the back plate. I'm about to do this as well, got the drill already but the
thing is damn expensive. Ask someone to lend you one if possible.
Hope the sound won't get too loud with holes all over the place. I still have the stock
muffler just in case the Polizei doesn't find it as pleasant as I do.
